Innovating Mosque Design Through Community Collaboration

The Centretown Mosque Design Challenge was born from a collaboration of passionate community members eager to create a welcoming space for all. t Centretown Mosque, we believe that a mosque is more than just a place of worship—it is the heart of a community. It’s a space where faith meets connection, where heritage is celebrated, and where the future is shaped. By opening this design challenge to our community, we aim to do something extraordinary: reimagine mosque design through the lens of collaboration, creativity, and inclusivity.
This is an opportunity to innovate and create a main hall that reflects not only the spiritual essence of Islam but also the diverse voices and talents of our community. Your ideas will help us design a space that fosters worship, unity, and growth while preserving the beauty of our historic building. Together, we can set a new standard for how mosques serve their communities—functional, welcoming, and deeply inspiring.

For what Purpose?

Sacred Moments: Where Worship and Community Unite

The design of Centretown Mosque’s main hall must reflect its role as a vibrant hub for worship and community. It should accommodate a variety of sacred activities, including the tranquillity of daily prayers, the collective spirit of Jumu’ah gatherings, and the special occasions of Taraweeh during Ramadan and Eid celebrations. Each of these moments brings worshippers together in devotion and fellowship, emphasizing the need for a thoughtfully designed space that enhances spiritual connection and fosters unity for generations to come.

Daily, Jumu’ah, Taraweeh, and Eid Prayers

The Centretown Mosque is a sanctuary for worship, where daily prayers provide a space for personal reflection and connection to Allah. Every Friday, Jumu’ah prayers bring the community together for a powerful collective worship experience, with sermons that inspire and guide. During Ramadan, the mosque becomes a vibrant hub for Taraweeh prayers, offering spiritual rejuvenation and unity in the holy month. On Eid, the main hall transforms into a joyous gathering place for celebration, gratitude, and shared blessings. These sacred moments create a rhythm of faith and fellowship, uniting worshippers in devotion and community spirit.

These gatherings feature lectures, panel discussions, and workshops on topics such as Islamic principles, family values, and interfaith dialogue.
